Australia to Include India in its Working Holiday Visa Program

Australian government is mulls to expand its Working Holiday Maker Visa program to include more than 10 countries in the list. India is also features in the list of countries to be included soon. However, a decline was noticed in the program, which resulted in the shortage of workers in the regional areas of Oz. The government of Australia is planning to extent the program to include backpackers from 13 more countries, in order to meet the demands of the regional businesses of Australia for the workers, require to work on farms.

  • have a passport from an eligible or participant country
  • be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive)
  • apply from outside Australia
  • Meet the functional English proficiency requirement
  • Meet the educational requirement
  • Meet the health and character requirements
  • Be alone, i.e. not accompanied by dependent children
  • Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or 417 visa.

Speaking about the expansion of Working Holiday Program, Coleman said,”Work and holiday applicants must meet minimum requirements before a visa can be granted, including having a functional level of English and they must hold or be studying towards tertiary qualifications,”.

Last year, Scot Morrison- the Prime Minister of Australia mentioned that his government had not ruled out an agricultural visa in order to lure more backpackers to work on farms.
