What is LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)?

Almost all Canadian work permits require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), formerly called a Labor Market Opinion (LMO), in order to hire a temporary foreign worker.

The Processing of LMIA applications for the foreigners has been delayed in recent months. The Employment and Social Development Canada notified on October 29th, as quoted by CIC News. The Canadian Government is facing a number of applications for LMIA. Therefore, the processing time likely to increase in the months ahead added ESDC.
