How to track the LMIA?

LMIA for overseas workers

What is LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)?

Almost all Canadian work permits require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), formerly called a Labor Market Opinion (LMO), in order to hire a temporary foreign worker.

The Processing of LMIA applications for the foreigners has been delayed in recent months. The Employment and Social Development Canada notified on October 29th, as quoted by CIC News. The Canadian Government is facing a number of applications for LMIA. Therefore, the processing time likely to increase in the months ahead added ESDC.

The officials said that these efforts have made to lessen the ratio of job seeker under TFWP. Thus, It is advised that the employer must submit the application without squandering extra time.

The processing time of application of LMIA has been surging radically since last few months for TFWP. This excludes the Global Talent Stream. GTS fast tracks Canada Work Visas for skilled workers in expertise occupations which has a processing standard of 10 working days.

The ESDC is responsible for the TFWP. It has explicitly said that the major cause of delay to proceed the application is technical. Further, these are related to the transition to new platforms for evaluating the LMIA.
