International students now have six months to apply for Post-graduation Work Permit after completing the study period.
The Canadian government made changes on Thursday, 14 February, including other modifications in PGWP.
It has doubled the time period as from 90 days to 180 days to apply for a PGWP once they get final marks sheet from the Designated College or University.
Additionally, also removed the valid study permit bar while applying the for PGWP.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC) now say a study permit must only have been valid “at some point” during the 180 days that graduates now have to submit their PGWP application.
Study permit usually issued basis on the duration of an academic program. By removing the study permit validation requirement, students now have adequate time to submit the PGWP application without the added stress of an expired permit.
By doubling duration, they have to apply for the visa beyond the expire date of student permit. Adding, it will also help those who have willing to stay and gain valuable Canadian work Experience.
